Welcome to our Lammas page!
Lammas (also known as Lughnasadh) is usually celebrated on or around August 1st and marks the first harvest of the year. The traditions of Lammas include making bread, corn dolls and other effigies with the newly harvested grain to honor the Gods. Games of skill and strength were also played at this time of year, and we can see that heritage in today’s state fairs.
Our observance of Lammas this year will partake of these traditions - and we add our own by taking it to the beach at Whipple Dam! Our Lammas ritual will be followed by grill food and then beach games for the rest of the afternoon. Please join HVGW for a chill and relaxing time on a hot August day!
Please bring a blanket or chair to sit on, swim gear, towels and sunblock! If you would like to bring a dish to share please let us know on the RSVP.
