Welcome to HVGW's Imbolc page! This holiday is traditionally observed on February 1st, and has a long history of traditions associated with the season (Groundhog's Day is one of them!). Pagans celebrate the Celtic
goddess Brigid on this day with offerings of white candles. Her
priestesses preside over an everlasting flame - the promise of spring
right around the corner!
In honor of the Goddess and her gifts of life HVGW will host our annual fondue feast. There will be an oil fondue for meats, two cheese fondues (one will be gluten free) and a chocolate dessert fondue for after the ritual. The house will provide options for each fondue, however attendees are encouraged to bring what they want to dip as well as any other food
they wish to share.
Imbolc is also when the Sun enters the sign of Aquarius. Aquarius as a sign is well-known for its individualism, non-conformity, curiosity and
creative impulse. In honor of the Aquarian spirit we will invoke the
god Prometheus, the Titan who stole fire from Olympus away from the
gods for humans to use. We will steal the fire for ourselves by
making magical art in a ritual space while our musicians weave a
meditative jam with quiet instruments. You can draw or play your
magic, whatever suits your spirit! After ritual we'll have a relaxing
chill-out with adult coloring books and a Pagan-themed movie to
celebrate our fellowship.
Come start the turn on the Wheel of the Year with food, fellowship and magic!
