Email us if you are interested in helping the next improvement project with our sand circle. See below for past efforts. Please RSVP here to so we can know who to expect RSVP to Sand Circle Build Day
Note that the weather predicted for Sunday, April 6 does not look favorable at this time (updated: Wed, Apr 2, 11:10pm), so we are looking at the next two Sundays of April to see if they will fare better and select the first one with favorable weather (we'll update here if the prediction for the 6th improves significantly before the day or if we confirm a different date). Please let us know if you are able to help during any of the dates. Thank you, and thank you for your flexibility, in whatever you have to offer; we understand not all dates will work for all potential attendees.
We'll likely hold the event during noon-5pm on the selected day.
As with previous Sand Circle improvements:
We appreciate any and all donations of time, labor and/or funding! See below for the Gofundme link to donate funds, or keep reading for how to donate time and labor if you decide to join us on site for the event.
We'll have work gloves available, but please feel free to bring your own.
Dress for the weather and for getting a little dirty.
We can support a ride board, but please RSVP before the day so we can properly coordinate and get you a ride. If you are a driver yourself, we appreciate rides you can also provide to others (also, please RSVP so we know you are available).
We'll have snacks and water on site, but please consider bringing your own water bottle so you can keep hydrated more easily.
And don't forget to RSVP ;-).
Work done this time:
Dig out the ash from the fire pit (the 3' radius / 6' diameter innermost circle) and add more stones to the stone lining.
Expand the sanded area in the circle from 12' radius (24' diameter) to 13' radius (26' diameter), weed and replenish the sand.
Weed whack to clear the way for future mowing the outer access space to a full 32' radius (64' diameter) circle around the arbors, mounds, and "bird wall" art installation.
Move out the shepherds hooks. Reinstall a fixed chain of perimeter lights.

More sand was spread onto the circle and 2 new portable benches were made. More on this soon!
Volunteer Dig Day #2
Soon we intend on having another dig day to expand the circle another 2 whole feet radially! If you or anyone you know would like to help fund the expansion please check out our go fund me: https://www.gofundme.com/f/the-rhoneymeade-sand-circle
We have been funded! Sunday, April 2, 2023, 10 volunteers came out to extend the circle another 2' radius from 10' to 12'.
Rhoneymeade Arboretum and Sculpture Garden has graciously allowed HVGW to create a bonfire zone in their field area with a sand topdressing to allow safe barefoot walking and dancing. To get this done, we need help! Please come to Rhoneymeade on Saturday April 16th, 2022 and help us to skin the grass in the area and hopefully also lay down the sand in circle as well. The bonfire circle will be a shared space maintained by HVGW which we will be using for our subsequent outdoor events, so we are very excited to get this project finally finished! If you cannot participate physically but can donate to the construction costs, please see our Donations page and make whatever contribution you can. Thank you for your support!
Update: April 17: Yesterday, 8 sturdy volunteers came out and made an impact for the community. We now have a 20' diameter sand circle circumscribing a 6' fire pit. Thank you volunteers and donors!
