4:00 - 6:00 - Bonfire, potluck, fun with friends!

Welcome to HVGW's Ostara page! This holiday is traditionally observed on the Spring Equinox, and has a long history of traditions associated with the season. As the Earth turns green, eggs, baby animals, and fresh flowers were common symbols to celebrate the coming of Spring--as well as the untapped potential of the year ahead.

In honor of the return of Spring, HVGW will be celebrating with our annual Ostara egg hunt, followed by a ritual involving the ancient arts of Oovomancy and herbalism. Oovomancy is a form of divination which has been used throughout the world to predict an outcome or glean more knowledge of a situation. On this day, we will be using it to discern predictions and advice for our year ahead. Next, in line with the theme of this time of year, we will each plant a seed representing qualities we want to take with us in the year ahead. You will be able to take this plant home with you to nourish in the months ahead!

Finally, we will all meet at the sand circle to kick off the first Rhoneymeade bonfire of 2024! There will be food, dancing, and of course, friendship and merriment!

• Please note: If you have any symptoms of illness please do not attend.

• There will be alcohol present for those of age. BYOB is fine. We expect all attendees to monitor their intake and make responsible decisions. 

• There will be plenty of street parking available. 

• Rides can be arranged. Please indicate on the RSVP if you are looking for a ride and where you want to be picked up. 

• Service animals only, please. 

• If you have mobility issues please let us know on the RSVP and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. 

• If weather proves too inclement we will divert to an indoor event plant, and send notices on our website, email and Facebook pages.
